On September 9 at 10:00am PST/1pm EST, schoolchildren nationwide will unite to participate in the American Public Education Foundation’s National Anthem Sing-A-Long. The movement was created FOR teachers to provide a simple – yet powerful activity to honor 911; Celebrate the birthday of the Anthem on September 14; and unite our country in an event like no other. The movement teaches the words, meaning, music and history of the National Anthem and aims to unite 1 million schoolchildren this year.
While some schools hold assemblies, others make an announcement to hold a moment of silence and sing in their respective time zones. The foundation has created an educational video and curriculum, which has been endorsed by numerous State Departments of Education.
Educators are asked to sign up so that students can be empowered by the numbers of participants in this annual event. www.theapef.org
